System RequirementsNewsSpoof is a 32 bit Windows application. It has been tested on Windows 95 & 98 but should also run on Windows NT. It must be installed on the same system where DirecPC Personal News Server is running. It is a small program (by Windows standards ;-)) and shouldn't impact any of the other programs running on the system. InstallationNo documentation is included in the .zip file so you may want to print this page. Installation of NewsSpoof is easy. Unzip the file that you downloaded from this site. The zip contains 1 file, the .exe file for NewsSpoof. Put this file anywhere you like. If you like you can create a shortcut to NewsSpoof and put it in your startup folder if you'd like NewsSpoof to start automatically when Windows starts. That's it. Installation on the server PC is complete. On the client, configure your news reader software to use the system where NewsSpoof is running as the news server. Important: you must tell your news reader to contact the server on port 1119. . If you don't do this you'll get a connection refused message. This message is from DirecPC Personal News Server which listens on port 119 which is the default port for news readers. UninstallingIt's simple. Erase 2 files:
