Godbout Econoram VIIa 24KB Altair Memory Board

The Godbout Econoram VIIa is a 24KB static memory board for Altair or other S100 bus computers. The memory is arranged in 4 independent banks, two 4K banks and 2 8K banks. Each bank is individually addressable, the 4K banks on any 4K boundary, the 8K banks on any 8K boundary. Adressing is done via dip switches so no need to warm up your soldering iron. It uses MM5257/TMS4044 family memory chips. Any of the banks may be protected or disabled it you like. The board supports use of either the MWRITE or ~PWR lines as well as the phantom signal found on some systems.

This board was tested on 5/15/99, I found two bad memory chips. Unfortunately I don't have any spares laying around. I moved both bad chips to a 4K memory bank. The board is being sold 'as is'. You can consider it a working 20kb memory board with 'on board' spares or it replace the two MM5257N-3L chips so all 24K is usable. All the chips are socketed so replacement will be easy.

I purchased this board in 1978 in kit form and built this card myself. Godbout also refers to the kit as project 122. The original booklet containing assembly and setup instructions and logic diagrams is included also.
